![]() ![]() ![]() It is well known that many important pathogens, S. However, antibiotic resistance is an important problem that requires primary clinical attention 22. The properties of the MAO coatings depend on certain experimental parameters such as the substrate, the electrolyte, voltage, current, and the treatment time 19.Īntibiotics could be presented to the implant surface to reduce the risk of postoperative infection by preventing microbial adhesion and proliferation 20, 21. Eventually, porous and rough bioceramic surfaces form on metal surfaces. The short-lived micro-discharges occur locally at weak sites that are susceptible to dielectric breakdown under the high temperatures and pressures associated with the MAO process 17, 18. MAO, which produces bioactive and biocompatible ceramic coatings, involves anodic oxidation in aqueous electrolytes above the dielectric breakdown voltage. MAO that can form porous, thick, relatively rough, and firmly adherent oxide coatings on zirconium surfaces represents a promising electrochemical coating technique 2, 5, 15, 16. Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) enhances bioactivity, biocompatibility, and corrosion resistance 2, 5, 13, 14. In order to overcome this disadvantage, it is vital to enhance the bioactivity and antimicrobial properties via surface treatment. Thus, zirconium has limited medical applications. ![]() It is clear that one of the major problems with the implant surfaces is microbial colonization, whereas their bioactivity and biocompatibility are improved 10, 11, 12. Moreover, the microbial property of zirconium may cause postoperative infection 7, 8, 9. However, zirconium cannot directly bond to bone tissue at an early stage after implantation due to its bioinert nature 5, 6. Zirconium can be a potential candidate for surgical implant material due to its promising properties such as low Young’s Modulus (92 GPa) and excellent biocompatibility compared to titanium and its alloys 2, 3, 4. The amount of zirconium that exists in the body is only 1 mg in total on average, and does not have a natural biological role in the human body 1. In vitro microbial adhesions on the chitosan-based MAO surfaces were lower than the MAO surfaces for Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. In vitro bioactivity was significantly enhanced on the chitosan-based MAO surface with respect to the MAO surface. In vitro bioactivity on both surfaces was investigated via XRD, SEM, and EDX analyses post-immersion in simulated body fluid (SBF) for 14 days. ![]() However, the contact angle of the MAO surface was lower than that of the chitosan-based MAO surface. Moreover, both surfaces indicated hydrophobic properties. All elements such as Zr, O, Ca, P, and C were homogenously distributed across both surfaces. The micropores and thermal cracks on the bioceramic MAO surface were sealed using a chitosan coating, where the MAO surface was porous and rough. The existence of chitosan on the MAO-coated Zr surfaces was verified by FTIR. Cubic ZrO 2, metastable Ca 0.15Zr 0.85O 1.85, and Ca 3(PO 4) 2 were detected on the MAO surface by powder-XRD. Subsequently, the MAO-coated zirconium surfaces were covered with an antimicrobial chitosan layer via the dip coating method to develop an antimicrobial, bioactive, and biocompatible composite biopolymer and bioceramic layer for implant applications. Ca-based porous and rough bioceramic surfaces were coated onto zirconium by micro-arc oxidation (MAO). ![]()

On October 11, 2017, The Baltimore Sun reported that House of Cards had been renewed for a sixth season and that filming would begin by the end of October 2017. Kevin Spacey was removed after sexual misconduct allegations were made against him. As a result, the season was reduced to eight episodes, deviating from the 13-episode format of the previous seasons. Production was halted for several months while the screenplay was reworked to exclude Spacey's character. Soon after production began in October 2017, Netflix fired the actor as a result of sexual misconduct allegations made against him. The sixth season marks the first of the series without Kevin Spacey, who portrayed lead character Frank Underwood. Powerful elites, led by wealthy siblings Annette and Bill Shepherd ( Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear), are attempting to manipulate and destroy her presidency, while Claire struggles to exert influence and escape her husband's shadow. The sixth season continues the story of recently-inaugurated, Democratic president Claire Underwood ( Robin Wright), who faces new threats within and outside the White House following the death of her husband and former president Frank Underwood. Frank Pugliese and Melissa James Gibson returned as showrunners for the final season. We’re reminded of Tom Hammerschmidt’s story, a catalyst that is likely to carry most of the fifth season and a reminder of Zoe Barnes’s original storyline. The sixth and final season of House of Cards, an American political drama television series created by Beau Willimon for Netflix, was released on November 2, 2018. We’re reminded of Tom and Claire’s relationship, which Frank still seems to be okay with, despite the fact that he makes a few snide comments. (This is the first time he breaks the fourth wall, saying “I thought you knew me better.”)īesides the Masterson plotline, much of this episode was to help us reintroduce plotlines to those we might have forgotten about. With no luck, it looks like the end isn’t in sight until…we realize Frank has him the whole time. While this shakes up Frank, it really only makes his resolve harder to find the man.Įventually, having no luck finding the man, Claire attempts to talk with Masterson’s mother, trying to get her to plead him to turn himself in. The most surprising part is the young girl, who has no qualms about absolutely hating Underwood, telling him that she “hopes he dies and she takes over”. Then we go the memorial service of the man killed by ICO’s Masterson.

In addition to Sunken Scrolls that unlock artwork and in-game lore, players can collect Power Orbs to upgrade their Hero Mode weapons, and tickets that can be exchanged for temporary reward boosts in multiplayer battles, such as increased experience or in-game money. Unlike the previous game's single-player campaign which had a pre-determined weapon set, the player can now earn various weapons, some of which are required when playing levels for the first time. The game features a single-player campaign called Hero Mode, in which the player rescues captured Zapfish across various levels while fighting off evil Octarians. 35th Anniversary was held in January 2021. A Splatfest celebrating the Super Mario Bros. However, bonus rematches of previous Splatfests were held in May 2020, August 2020, and October 2020. In July 2019, Nintendo announced that the final regular Splatfest would be held that month. All players who participate earn rare rewards, but players on the winning team receive a slightly higher cut. Winning battles awarded 'clout' to the winning team, and at the end of the Splatfest, the winning side was decided by evaluating popularity and clout earned in both battle modes. The only mode available in a Splatfest was Turf War, but players could choose between normal and pro modes. Themes were usually region-specific and happen at different times of the month. Splatfest themes were usually announced two weeks in advance, and players were given the ability to choose their team in the game's lobby. In addition, there were two collaborations during these Splatfests: Nickelodeon's Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Super Smash Bros. Once per month until July 2019, a "Splatfest" event was held in which players could choose one of two teams, usually based on common debates such as heroes versus villains and pancakes versus waffles. A new mode, Salmon Run, allows up to four players to team up cooperatively to tackle waves of enemies called Salmonids and collect Boss Salmonids' eggs. League Battles allow players to form teams with friends playing the same modes as in Ranked Battles. Splatoon 2 also maintains the first game's rotation of Splat Zones, Tower Control and Rainmaker for Ranked Battles, unlocked at level ten, while also adding a new Clam Blitz mode. Like the previous game, it features the standard Turf War mode for Regular Battles, in which two four-player teams have three minutes to cover the most turf with their color of ink. The sequel adds new standard, sub and special weapons, including dual-wield pistols called Dualies that allow the player to perform dodge rolls, shotgun-like weapons called Brellas that enable defensive maneuvers with folding shields, and jetpacks known as Inkjets. Inklings and Octolings can morph between humanoid, or kid form, where they switch from walking and shooting, into squid form where they can quickly swim through ink of their own color, and replenish their ink supply, as well as return to full health. Ink is also used to cover the ground, or any paintable surface, in order to swim or refill their ink tanks. Like its predecessor, Splatoon 2 is a third-person shooter in which players control characters, known as Inklings and Octolings, and use colored ink as ammunition. ![]() ![]() We just try to explore what we find interesting and what serves the community of others who also find this stuff interesting. We’ve grown entirely organically – there’s never been any venture capitalist funding or marketing scheme. LZX exists because there’s a community that believes in the intrinsic value of these tools. We don’t try to sell the concept in a commercial way to anyone. Creating these instruments for me, as far as an artistic statement goes, is about finding those blind spots and making things possible that weren’t otherwise explored. I think this really creates blind spots as to what could be done, but is not, because it doesn’t fit into a sensible commercial model. Mainstream consumer culture assumes that because something was based on technology from a previous decade that it has somehow already been done or is old news. We are inundated with visual stimulation and electronics in the modern world. Those in the professional graphics and motion worlds who use video synth tools have said over and over again how that the use of raw analog graphics informs the mindset and understanding of their work in a way they never saw before. Remember also that everything in the world of computers graphics has its roots in analog computing and image processing. Video synthesis doesn’t have to be more complicated than that, either. When you are playing a game there’s no expectation that you should get anything other than enjoyment out of the experience. ![]() Yet in the world of gaming, there’s a whole trove of successful games that don’t have any goal other than exploring an interactive landscape. In audio synthesis world, I see people torture themselves over their investment in and use of their equipment because of the expectation that they have to justify it by releasing an album or working on a track.
